Could Ohio State Buckeyes Replace Injured Quarterback Devin Brown with Lincoln Kienholz?

With Devin Brown out with a lower-body injury, the Ohio State Buckeyes will look to veteran Tristan Gebbia, rookie Lincoln Kienholz or both to fill his shoes.

The No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes survived their second top-ten test of the season against the then-No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, but lost a piece of their offense in the process.

Backup Buckeyes quarterback Devin Brown left the game with a lower-body injury during the third quarter of Saturday's game against the Nittany Lions after twisting awkwardly on a designed run.

During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Ohio State coach Ryan Day revealed the Buckeyes would be without Brown for "one or two weeks." Day was then asked if freshman Lincoln Kienholz, whom has a similar build and skillset to Brown, could fill his place for the time being.

"(Lincoln's) very athletic and he's younger, but he is athletic so we're going to look and see if we can get him in that role," Day said. "We'll go through the week and give those guys reps and see how that goes."

Veteran Tristan Gebbia will have a chance at earning Brown's reps, having already gained three years of experience behind center at Oregon State. Day said both Gebbia and Kienholz bring different things to the table, and each will get a shot to fill Brown's currently vacant role.

"One's a more experienced guy and one's a younger guy who we think has a really bright future here," Day said. "Devin's been getting the majority of reps with the 2s, so the guys haven't gotten a ton of reps. Maybe they'll both have the opportunity."

Ohio State is on the road this weekend for a Big Ten Conference battle with the Wisconsin Badgers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, with live coverage airing on NBC.
