Incoming Ohio State Buckeyes athletic director Ross Bjork has made it clear where he stands on the future of Ryan Day.

During his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Bjork told reporters he believes Day is more than capable of leading the Buckeyes to success.

"If you can coach, you can coach," Bjork said. "Ryan Day wins a lot of games here. He can coach. Now, the pieces — you got to make adjustments, and he's doing that. The roster piece is really, really important."

Day told reporters after the ceremony that he and Bjork spoke for an hour on Monday before the former Texas A&M athletic director's hiring was announced the following day.

Bjork said Day made a great impression on him during that conversation, and that the two have connections in common who also shared positive things with him about the Buckeyes coach.

"So I was really impressed when we sat down," Bjork said. "I know a ton of people that we know as mutual friends, mutual colleagues. And I just can't wait to see the first practice and get after it at Ohio State."

Day has faced increasing criticism from fans following three-straight losses to the Michigan Wolverines. Additionally, a 14-3 loss to the Missouri Tigers in the 2023 Cotton Bowl made this the second consecutive season at the end of which the Buckeyes had an 11-2 record.

"This guy right here, Coach Day, he’s gonna get it done," Bjork said "It’s gonna be great when we win those championships."
