One day after elite five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott announced his surprising commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes, another shocker happened involving the program.

Class of 2024 four-star edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot announced his commitment to Miami on "The College Football Recruiting Show" Monday, despite having On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine in favor of the Buckeyes. In addition to Ohio State, Lightfoot chose the Hurricanes over Alabama, Georgia, USC and Illinois.

The Chicago native is the No. 67 player nationally, the sixth-best edge rusher and the No. 3 player in Illinois, according to 247Sports Composite.

Lightfoot was offered by the Buckeyes on Jan. 23, as he was a part of their big recruiting weekend on June 9 that featured commits five-star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham and four-star linebacker Garrett Stover and four-star targets offensive tackle Brandon Baker and pass-catcher Jeremiah McClellan.

He was trending to become a Buckeye, picking up some crystal balls that were later flipped to Miami on Monday.

This is not a sky-is-falling situation for Ohio State on the defensive line, though.

The Buckeyes picked up a commitment from Scott Sunday and still are in good shape to land five-stars edge rusher Dylan Stewart and defensive lineman Eddrick Houston in the 2024 cycle.
