Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Career First Half Puts Ohio State Buckeyes In Front Big vs. Michigan State Spartans
The Ohio State Buckeyes are off to a roaring start vs. the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday night.
Coming into a week in which they needed to make a statement to the College Football Playoff committee, the Buckeyes were able to do just that after one half of play, jumping out to a 35-3 lead after the first 30 minutes.
Things got started for the Buckeyes from a familiar spot, with star wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. scoring three quick touchdowns, including his first career rushing touchdown on the opening drive from 19 yards out.
On the next two drives, the scores came from the air, with QB Kyle McCord hitting Harrison Jr. with 27 and nine-yard strikes on each of the next ensuing possessions.
The three touchdowns tied a career-high game total for Harrison, equalling his massive three-score day against the Spartans from a year ago.
Harrison Jr. also crossed the 1,000-yard mark in the first half vs. Michigan State, making him the first-ever Ohio State wideout to have two 1,000-yard seasons in a career.
Harrison Jr. ended the half with six catches for 92 yards and three total touchdowns.
But even after the explosive start from Harrison Jr., Ohio State wasn't done there.
The next two scores for the Buckeyes came from elsewhere, however, with the first coming from TreVeyon Henderson on a one-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter.
The next was on an 18-yard pitch and catch from McCord to star tight end Cade Stover, making the score 35-3, and putting all of the momentum in the Buckeyes' favor.
The Buckeyes will kickoff to start the second half.
