Despite Misses, Buckeyes 2024 Recruiting Class Still Strong
There are just 49 days until the start of the Ohio State football season when the Buckeyes take on the Indiana Hoosiers on Sept. 2 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
While rosters are set for the most part heading into the 2023 season, coach Ryan Day and his recruiting staff have been working hard to make the team better for the 2024 cycle, where there have been some hits and misses.
Zabian Brown, a four-star cornerback from Santa Ana, California chose the Crimson Tide over the Buckeyes and committed on July 9. The Bucks also lost out on four-star widout Josiah Trader from Miami, Florida, who ultimately committed to the University of Miami.
But fans shouldn't worry about the 2024 cycle. At least not yet. The Buckeyes still have five-star wideout Jeremiah Smith - the cousin of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith - who committed in December. Smith is considered the No. 1 recruit by some outlets for the class of 2024.
Ohio State still boasts commitments from five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott from Chicago, Illinois, and Mylan Graham, a five-star wideout from New Haven, Indiana.
Defensively, the Buckeyes are fine too, with a commitment from four-star cornerback Bryce West from Cleveland, Ohio. But Day and Co. aren't done, as they're still looking to improve the 2024 class.
It's not a bad scenario at all for Ohio State to have lost some commitments, and the class is still strong, and the Buckeyes aren't close to being done.
