Another pass-catcher heads to Columbus.

Three-star tight end Damarion Witten officially signed his letter of intent to play for Ohio State in 2024. The Cleveland native made sure he was staying close to home for the next chapter of his career.

Witten, listed as the No. 37 tight end recruit in the class and the 30th ranked recruit from the state of Ohio, should at least fight for reps next season with Cade Stover's career coming to a close. Listed 6-4 and 215 pounds, Witten will likely to need some time to bulk up physically and develop as a blocker before he’ll be ready to play a major role for the offense.

The tight end position has been potent in year's past for the Buckeyes. Stover is coming off a John Mackey Award finalist appearance after totaling 41 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns.

Witten will be one of three former Tarblooders on Ohio State’s 2024 roster along with four-star cornerback Bryce West, and 2023 signee Arvell Reese. Witten chose Ohio State over programs like Kentucky, Michigan, and Texas, among others.

A chess piece for the offense, Witten has lined up everywhere during his high school career, including wide receiver, tight end, running back and wildcat quarterback. His versatility caught the attention of Ohio State over the summer, which led to him being offered a scholarship.

Witten recently was named the Most Valuable Player of the U.S. Army Bowl on Monday night in Frisco, Texas after hauling in four passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns.

Unlike most recruits, Witten will not enrolle early as he intends to play basketball for Glenville High School.
