WATCH: Ohio State 4-Star 2024 RB Commit James Peoples Tops 20 MPH On TD Run
Keep a close eye on what the future of this Ohio State Buckeyes offense could look like.
Currently holding commitments from five-star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham and four-star quarterback Air Noland and running back James Peoples, the Buckeyes will have speed and explosiveness all over the field when they take the field as a unit. But for one, that speed has been quantified.
Reel Analytics, which "analyzes video to measure athleticism for coaches to evaluate players more accurately" according to its website, posted a clip of an approximately 55-yard touchdown run from Peoples in which he reached a maximum of 21 mph. According to Reel Analytics, that speed is in the 85th percentile.
In the video, Peoples flanked Veteran Memorial High School's quarterback and took the inside handoff. He ran behind a wall of offensive linemen, made one cut and was off to the races, outrunning the opponent's defenders on his way to the end zone.
Last season for the Patriots, Peoples rushed for nearly 10 yards per carry, notching 1,908 yards on the ground in 191 carries. His tote in the video was just one of just 28 scores he had during the 2022 season.
Peoples is the No. 79 player in the 2024 cycle, the No. 5 running back and the 15th-best player in Texas.Â
