Ohio State DE Kenyatta Jackson's Father Call Outs 'Clowns' Criticizing 2024 Pledge Jeremiah Smith

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver commit Jeremiah Smith caught 58 passes for 1,073 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2022.
In this story:

Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline worked his magic and locked down the top wide receiver and No. 2 player in the class of 2024, Jeremiah Smith.

The Opa Locka, FL. native committed on Dec. 14, 2022, which is early in comparison to most class of 2024 prospects. He wanted to keep his options open and maintain relationships with coaches at other schools in case a coaching change occurred in Columbus with either head coach Ryan Day or Hartline.

Since his commitment in December 2022 through June 21, he will have taken both unofficial and official visits to Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, and Miami each in addition to an official visit to Georgia on May 19.

Buckeye Nation hasn't liked that he's taken all these visits — potentially due to No. 1 player in 2024, quarterback Dylan Raiola's decommitment — and they have voiced their displeasure with Smith on social media.

Ohio State defensive end Kenyatta Jackson's father, Kenyatta Jackson Sr., came to Smith's defense on Twitter Sunday.

"I have a huge problem with grown adults with a kid mindset trash talking a kid that's 17 [years] old enjoying his recruiting experiences which can do whatever he wants," Kenyatta Jackson Sr. said in a tweet. "What is wrong with y'all clowns."

Smith told the On3 NIL Elite Series that he just has "fun" when responding to fans with negative comments on social media.

"It's fun because they're not going to expect you to respond," Smith said.
