WATCH: Lee Corso Picks Buckeyes Over Notre Dame On 'College GameDay'
ESPN's "College GameDay" was in South Bend, Indiana, for the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes' top-10 matchup against the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and with it brought its weekly traditions.
Ol' Crimson flew in front of "Touchdown Jesus" on Notre Dame's campus and Lee Corso made his 401st career headgear pick on "College GameDay." He put on Brutus' mascot head and did his patented wave to close the program before the Buckeyes kick off against the Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on NBC.
When Ohio State and Notre Dame opened the season last year in front of St. John Arena in Columbus, Corso also picked Brutus. He had to sweat it out a little as the Fighting Irish led at halftime, but the Buckeyes rallied to score 14-unanswered points in the second half to win 21-10.
Brutus was Corso's first two headgear picks, choosing the Buckeyes over Penn State and Iowa Oct. 5, 1996, and Oct. 26, 1996, respectively.
When Corso selects Ohio State, he is 26-13 as opposed to a 6-10 clip when he picks against the Buckeyes. Corso is 8-4 when choosing the Fighting Irish compared to a 12-5 record when picking against them.
In 400 all-time headgear picks, Corso is 267-133 but has been on a hot streak since the national championship between LSU and Clemson. Since Jan. 13, 2020, Corso is 39-13 with separate winning streaks of 12 and 13 games, respectively.
Corso is 3-0 this season, picking North Carolina over South Carolina, Texas over Alabama and Colorado over Colorado State.
