Ohio State's CJ Stroud Reportedly 'Ghosted' Manning Passing Academy
Ohio State Buckeyes star quarterback C.J. Stroud has supposedly been falling down NFL Draft boards in recent days, with experts calling certain aspects of his character into question.
The questioning began earlier this month, with NFL insider Michael Lombardi reporting that Stroud was 'not an easy guy to coach. But now, another criticism has surfaced, this time from analyst and former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn, who has accused Stroud of skipping out on the Manning Passing Academy.
“I’ve been told that he committed to it the night before, then just kind of ghosted them, didn’t show up,” Quinn told the Pick Six Podcast. “That’s football royalty, and when you do that, that’s gonna kind of set off some alarms for people, like, ‘Hey man, that’s not how you conduct yourself—especially around the Manning family, or just in general—if you’re gonna be a franchise quarterback.’”
Quinn did note that he still views Stroud as the No. 2 quarterback in the draft, calling him the most accurate passer in the class, and lauding his personal interactions with the former Buckeye. However, according to Quinn, some NFL teams may be viewing Florida's Anthony Richardson as the better option, due to his higher ceiling.
Whatever ends up happening on Day 1 of the draft next weekend, one thing is clear - Stroud's resume with Ohio State on the field speaks for itself. And whichever team ultimately drafts him, is going to get a passer with elite tools and production at the highest level to back it up.
