Buckeyes Make Top 5, Land Official Visit From Nation's Top LB Sammy Brown

Brown's official visit is set for late June, and will be the last of 2024 linebacker's five, giving the Buckeyes a chance to leave a lasting impression without interference.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have long been known for their top-tier recruiting

Being able to bring in players to offset the quick turnaround that a powerhouse program their caliber sees has been crucial to consistent success, and the Buckeyes have seemed to nail it.

They will be looking to land as many players as they can in the next few years, but most recently, Ohio State secured an official visit from Sammy Brown — one of the nation's top linebacker prospects from the class of 2024.

"I've narrowed it down to five: Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State," Brown said. "[Those are] the officials I have set right now, So [those] are the five I've been focusing on."

Brown's five official visits began Thursday, when the linebacker took a trip to visit Knoxville, and will continue through the end of June, when he will conclude with a visit to coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Not long after, the linebacker says he's aiming to make his decision, shooting for "the first week in July" to announce his college plans.

Brown has been an extremely touted prospect from the class of 2024— especially being a multi-sport athlete — complete with a five-star rating and the No. 1 overall position rank in the nation, according to 247 Sports.

"[Brown is] one of the top overall athletes to come out of the high school ranks in recent memory," the site wrote. "Not only has [he] racked up over 200 tackles and 3,500 rushing yards in three years at the varsity level, but [he has also] captured back-to-back gold medals on the wrestling mat and posted rare track and field numbers for someone that’s north of 225 pounds."

"[He's] Likely to set weight room records at the school of his choice and push for early playing time with his work ethic and mindset. NFL upside."

The Buckeyes know who they're getting with Brown, and are certainly not strangers to competing with other schools for top recruits like him. They would undoubtedly benefit from his presence on defense, also offering him the legacy of their unmatched NFL-like player development that has made Ohio State the leading program in first-round draft picks.

And the kicker? The Buckeyes will visit with Brown last, with the chance to leave a lasting impression without interference, should the interest be mutual, and that may be all that Day needs.

Brown's official visit to Ohio State is set for June 23.
