Report: Ohio State Buckeyes RB Transfer Chip Trayanum Visiting Kentucky Wildcats
Ohio State Buckeyes running back Chip Trayanum entered the transfer portal on Wednesday but is already preparing some visits.
Per reports from 247 Sports, Trayanum is set to visit the Kentucky Wildcats this weekend, as he could potentially compete in the new-look SEC next season.
Arriving to Ohio State in 2022 as a transfer from Arizona State, Trayanum had a minimal role during his first season in Columbus. This season, Trayanum battled some injury issues, but broke out a bit more with 85 carries for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also added nine catches for 53 yards.
Kentucky has boasted some talented running backs in the last few years and this season was no different. Three-time transfer Ray Davis was no different in 2023, as he posted 186 carries for 1,066 yards and 13 touchdowns. He impressed wit his receiving skills as well, tallying 29 catches for 317 yards and seven more scores.
However, he's already declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and is still uncertain to play in Kentucky's bowl game. With Davis' departure, the Wildcats have a potential opening at running back in 2024 a role Trayanum would certainly love to claim as he still searches for his first-career 1,000-yard campaign headed into his fifth collegiate season next year.
Kentucky is coming off a 7-5 regular season that ended with an impressive 38-31 win over No. 10 Louisville. The Wildcats will play the No. 22 (CFP) Clemson Tigers in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Friday, Dec. 29.
No. 7 Ohio State will take on the No. 9 Missouri Tigers in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, Dec. 29 in Arlington, Texas.
