On3 Predicts Ohio State Buckeyes QB Kyle McCord Will Transfer to Miami Hurricanes
Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord will soon be on his way south, according to On3.
The starting signal-caller had a solid year with the Buckeyes and would be a prime candidate to do the same with the Hurricanes, according to writer JD Pickell.
"Miami has a need at quarterback following the departure of Tyler Van Duke via the portal, and the Ohio State to Miami transfer has happened before with the likes of Tate Martell," Pickell said. "Of course, Miami would be getting a more proven passer this time, one likely to stick at quarterback."
A native of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, McCord completed almost 66 percent of his passes for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns. The only blemishes to McCord's record with the Buckeyes were his six interceptions, two of which came on the final weekend of the season against the then-No. 3 Michigan Wolverines.
McCord announced his entrance into the transfer portal on Monday in a move many people close to Ohio State did not see coming. The junior's decision to spend his final year of eligibility elsewhere is one of the first times in recent memory that a Buckeyes starting quarterback has entered his name into the transfer portal.
There is plenty of buzz in Columbus about who could take McCord's place behind center. Sophomore Devin Brown began the year as co-starting quarterback with McCord before coach Ryan Day promoted the older of the two entering Week Three.
Rising sophomore Lincoln Kienholz and incoming freshman Air Noland could also be in contention to fill the void left by McCord next season. The final name in the conversation to be Ohio State's next starting quarterback is Washington State's Cam Ward, whom On3 predicts will find his way to the Scarlet and Gray after he entered the portal earlier this month.
