'Get Out Of There While You Can!' Paul Finebaum Thinks Ryan Day Should Leave Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day has found himself in quite the conundrum - at least as far as the fan base is concerned.
On Saturday, following his team's heartbreaking 30-24 loss to the Michigan Wolverines - his third straight in the series - Day found himself as the center of ire for Buckeyes fans.
Which, to be fair, is not exactly a surprising development. After all, for Buckeyes fans, the Ohio State coach's most important job is to beat 'the team up north', and in the last three seasons, Day has failed to do that.
Now, in the wake of that backlash, ESPN's Paul Finebaum believes that Day's future in Colombus could be in jeopardy.
"I think he's got a real problem," Finebaum said on the Matt Barrie Show. "I don't like the path ahead...I think he's a very good coach. But you can't lose that game. That speaks for itself... I'd get out of there, while you can."
Day, who is 56-7 as the Buckeyes head coach, has been with the program since 2017, and has been the head coach since officially taking over for Urban Meyer in 2019.
In that time, Day's Buckeyes have been amongst the nation's best, winning two Big Ten titles, three Big Ten East titles, and reaching the College Football Playoff in three of his four seasons.
Day also took the Buckeyes to a national title game in 2020, where his team ultimately fell to Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
