Purdue Boilermakers Coach Ryan Walters Raves About 'Talented As All Get Out' Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of college football's most prestigious and lauded programs.
And for good reason.
Since 2012, the Buckeyes have won at least 11 games in every season (barring the 2020 COVID year in which just eight games were played) and have made the College Football Playoff five times, including two national title games, winning it all in 2014.
They have also won five Big Ten championships along the way.
Not to mention, the Buckeyes are currently tied for second all-time with the Alabama Crimson Tide with 953 wins, behind only their arch-rival Michigan Wolverines.
And when speaking to the media about his team's upcoming challenge against the No. 3 Buckeyes, Purdue Boilermakers head coach Ryan Walters had nothing but good things to say about Ryan Day's team.
"They have a talented offensive line, talented receivers," Walters told the media. "Every year they sign three, four, and five-star guys. Talented running backs, rotate three in and they don’t miss a beat. Whoever is out there, they are there for a reason, and they are talented as all get out. As a staff, they do a good job of making it not overly complicated for those guys so they can play fast and use their God-given ability"
So how can the Boilermakers pull off yet another massive upset over Ohio State?
Well according to Walters, the Buckeyes don't really have any weaknesses to exploit, and the outcome of the game will rely solely on his team's ability to execute, make plays, and stay composed.
Most importantly, however, Walters believes that his team has to keep an aggressive mindset, and cannot shy away from Ohio State just because they are, well, Ohio State.
"Chinks in Ohio State's armor? No, not really," Walters said. "You have to execute. You have to make plays. You can’t pay attention to the logo. You can’t let the brand or the history affect how aggressive you play."
"If you make it about us, how we execute, how we play the game, and how aggressive our mentality and mindset are, then you play and compete. You let the game play out and try to win it. You can’t walk into it and give them an edge because they have a Buckeye leaf on their helmet."
Luckily for Walters, the Boilermakers do have a history of success at home against Ohio State, winning four of the last six matchups at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Despite that, Purdue currently sits as a 19-point underdog to the Buckeyes.
Either way, they will have a chance to cause some college football chaos in West Lafayette on Saturday.
Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET.
