Ryan Day Knew Dominant Ohio State Buckeyes Win was ‘Right Around the Corner’

Day told reporters he expected a big performance from the Ohio State Buckeyes after last weekend's road game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day was not surprised with the dominant way his team defeated the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.

The Buckeyes defeated the Spartans 38-3 in one of their best showings of the season over the weekend, improving their undefeated record to 10-0.

Ohio State's helmsman reflected on last Saturday's road game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, in which the Buckeyes struggled but prevailed, 35-16. Day told reporters reviewing footage of that game told him something good was in the works.

"I think you guys were asking me this week about the game against Rutgers, and although it was a little clunky at times, I said that a lot of guys graded out well," Day said. "I kind of felt like something like this was right around the corner. We were knocking on the door. So, counting on this to continue to push us forward with the momentum to finish the season the way we should."

Saturday against Michigan State was Ohio State's first home game since they defeated the then-No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions 20-12 on October 21.

Between then and their contest with the Spartans, the Buckeyes took care of business on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers 24-10 on October 28, and the Scarlet Knights during that aforementioned affair on November 4.

The Buckeyes are back in Ohio Stadium next weekend, hosting the Minnesota Golden Gophers for Senior Day on Saturday, November 18. Coverage of the game begins at 4 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
