'Hurts': Kyle McCord and Ryan Day React to Ohio State Buckeyes' Third-Straight Loss to Michigan Wolverines

McCord said the 30-24 loss on Saturday "hurt," while Day reiterated his belief that his team "can play with anybody in the country."

The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes suffered a devastating loss to the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, falling to their rivals, 30-24.

This marked the third-straight year in which the Buckeyes were unable to defeat the Wolverines, dating back to a 42-27 loss on November 25, 2021.

Ohio State starting quarterback Kyle McCord spoke to the media following the loss. The visibly distraught signal-caller described his emotions following the defeat with a single word.

"Hurts," McCord said. "That's really the only word for it. To work that hard for that opportunity and to come up a few plays short hurts. There's no way around that. It's a tough feeling."

McCord threw two interceptions in the contest, including one on the final drive of the game to cement the result. The Mount Laurel, New Jersey-native completed 60% of his passes against the Wolverines for 271 yards and a touchdown, as well.

Buckeyes coach Ryan Day also shared his thoughts after the game. Day echoed McCord's sentiments of frustration, but reiterated the belief he's held all season long about his team's ability to hang with anyone in the nation.

"I think we have a very good team," Day said. "We came up short today and it's devastating but I believe in our players and I think we have a veteran team. I do believe that this team can play with anybody in the country."
