Ryan Day Praises Work Ethic of Ohio State WRs Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka
Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. received praise from Ryan Day on Thursday.
The Buckeyes coach said during "The Ryan Day Show" that having players like Harrison Jr. provides comfort to the offense, especially to the quarterbacks.
"(Harrison Jr.)'s a tremendous player," Day said. "I think that's where you build the confidence on offense and with the quarterback knowing you have players like that on the perimeter."
Junior Kyle McCord was officially named Ohio State's starter at the position on Tuesday after spending the past two weeks splitting reps with sophomore Devin Brown. Day cited McCord's confidence against Youngstown State last Saturday as one of the main factors in his decision to promote the Mount Laurel, New Jersey native.
Part of the reason McCord was able to play as well as he did against the Penguins was the performance of Harrison Jr., who hauled in seven receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown. Day credits Harrison Jr.'s continued improvement as a wide-out to the effort he gives during practice and workouts.
"It's well-documented, not only his work ethic and how he goes to work every day, his discipline, but you see the play-making ability out there," Day said. "He's kind of taken that and tried to improve in certain areas...The other guys see that work ethic."
Day added that a strong work ethic is not exclusive to Harrison Jr., saying there are several other players who show the same amount of effort as the junior receiver.
"There are other guys on offense: Emeka (Egbuka), Julian (Fleming) and TreVeyon (Henderson)," Day said. "These guys have, you know, Cade Stover, they've put in really good off-seasons. (I'm) fired up to see how this continues, but we have weapons out there."
