WATCH: Ryan Day, Jim Knowles Preview Ohio State vs. Notre Dame
Ohio State Buckeyes coaches Ryan Day and Jim Knowles are scheduled to take the podium Tuesday afternoon to preview this weekend's road game against Notre Dame.
Saturday's contest with the No. 9-ranked Fighting Irish will be the biggest challenge of the season so far for the No. 6 Buckeyes, as well as their second game on the road after back-to-back weekends at Ohio Stadium.
Ohio State looked tremendous their last time out against Western Kentucky, smoking the Hilltoppers 63-10 in a spectacular offensive showcase. Not to be ignored, the Buckeyes defense also had quite a showing, scoring two defensive touchdowns during the game's four quarters.
Needless to say, there was plenty about which to be proud for Day and Knowles. On Saturday, quarterback Kyle McCord played his best game of the season with 318 passing yards and three touchdowns, receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. set a new career-long reception mark with a 75-yard score and linebacker Tommy Eichenberg passed 200 career tackles.
Notre Dame has also had their fair share of dominant performances already this season, however. The Fighting Irish enter Saturday averaging 46 points per outing after four games (compared to Ohio State's 40 through three contests), including two games where they did not allow an opposing touchdown (Navy and Tennessee State).
Quarterback Sam Hartman has been electric for the Fighting Irish having already compiled 1,061 passing yards and 13 touchdowns while completing over 71% of his passes. The transfer from Wake Forrest also has yet to throw an interception.
Ohio State and Notre Dame kick off from South Bend, Indiana on Saturday, September at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
