Ryan Day Updates Ohio State Buckeyes WR Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Status vs. Maryland Terrapins
The Ohio State Buckeyes will have Marvin Harrison Jr. back this weekend against the Maryland Terrapins, head coach Ryan Day announced Tuesday.
Day said Harrison will be a full-go participant in practice this week after having the bye week between the Notre Dame and Maryland games to replenish and refuel.
"We did give the guys a little bit of time to clear their minds and their bodies and their souls because it's going to be be a heck of a run here for the next couple months," Day said Tuesday.
Buckeye Nation held a collective breath on Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson's 61-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The play was a doubled-edged sword because, while Henderson's touchdown opened up what was a two-score lead over Notre Dame, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. laid on the ground and did not get up after the play.
Harrison was rolled up on by Fighting Irish safety Xavier Watts while engaged in a block with cornerback Cam Hart on the perimeter. It was a freak injury, something that Harrison couldn't have seen coming, but he added an extra layer of tape on his right ankle and returned to the game later on.
Day said Harrison was just doing his job on the play.
"Brian (Hartline)'s been working hard with the wideouts about blocking, because that's a gain of 10 or a touchdown," Day said. "Marvin made the block, put himself in there. He actually got rolled up on that play, but he put his body in front of it, and that was the block that sprung (Henderson)."
Harrison finished the game against Notre Dame with three receptions for 32 yards, including a crucial 19-yard catch with 51 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter that set the Buckeyes up at Notre Dame's 13-yard line.
In Week 1 against the Indiana Hoosiers, Harrison was hurt following a play where he appeared to have landed awkwardly on his shoulder.
