'That Man Is A Freak!' Ohio State QB Will Howard Can Hardly Describe WR Jeremiah Smith

Howard called Smith a "freak show" during his first media availability as a Buckeye, pointing to the freshman receiver's physical attributes and work ethic as evidence.

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard is already impressed with the talent of his new team.

The transfer signal-caller had his first session with the Buckeyes media on Tuesday. Along with revealing why he decided to forgo the 2024 NFL Draft, Howard used some of his time to rave about receiver Jeremiah Smith.

"He's a specimen, that man is a freak show when it comes to physical," Howard said. "I'm excited to see him out on the field."

Howard's assessment of Smith has plenty of evidence. The freshman pass-catcher was ranked the best receiver in the Class of 2024 in both his home state of Florida and the country as a whole.

Additionally, Smith was the top prospect in the nation, regardless of position.

Howard entered the transfer portal following the end of his fourth season at Kansas State. The Buckeyes secured Howard's commitment earlier this month.

Ohio State fell 14-3 to the Missouri Tigers in the 2023 Goodyear Cotton Bowl back on December 29. Part of the reason for the Buckeyes' defeat was their inexperience at quarterback, having to split reps in the game between sophomore Devin Brown and freshman Lincoln Kienholz.

With the addition of Howard, whom many believe will earn the starting job for the coming season, Ohio State seems to have solved its issue (for lack of a better term) at quarterback.

Howard will certainly have one of the best receiving corps in the country on the other end of his passes, even without Smith. However, the offensive law firm of Howard & Smith has the potential to be the best duo in all of college football.
