Urban Meyer Shocked at Lack of Fight from Jim Harbaugh to Coach Michigan Wolverines vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
Urban Meyer coached plenty of games against the Michigan Wolverines when he was coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Few people know the emotions and meaning behind the rivalry between the Buckeyes and Wolverines than Meyer, which makes his statements about Saturday's game that much more impactful.
Meyer said during a podcast he was surprised at the lack of fight from Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh to get on the sideline for the latest installment of 'The Game.' With all that is on the line in this year's meeting, Meyer is shocked Harbaugh has not been doing whatever he can to lead his team.
"For Coach Harbaugh to not coach in this game, I almost start sweating thinking about that," Meyer said. "'What do you mean you're not coaching in The Game?' He's a former player, great player there. Beat the Buckeyes two years in a row...All of this on the line and you're not coaching in this game? And you're not fighting it? So there is stuff there...It got real serious when they said 'We're not going to fight this.'"
Harbaugh is serving the final game of a three-contest suspension levied by the Big Ten in response to sign-stealing and in-person scouting violations by the program. Acting head coach Sherrone Moore will lead the Wolverines against the Buckeyes in place of Harbaugh.
Kick-off between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines is scheduled for 12 p.m. eastern on Saturday, November 25. Coverage of the game will live on FOX from Michigan Stadium (a.k.a. "The Big House") in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
