Urban Meyer Thinks Michigan Wolverines Are Better Than No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes

Former Ohio State Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer thinks the Michigan Wolverines are the best team in the country.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the No. 1 team in the country per the newest release of the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday.

However, according to Urban Meyer, they are not the best team in terms of eye test.

During a recent episode of Urban's Take with Tim May, Meyer explained that while the Buckeyes do have the best resume in the nation, it is the Michigan Wolverines that have looked like the best team on the field.

"Ohio State has the best resume, two Top 10 wins," Meyer said. "The Wolverines on film, they’re as good as anybody in the country. They might be the best on videotape. But you have to look [at] who they’re playing. They’re just, I mean, they are beating teams badly. So I think the winner of that game is the No. 1 team in the country."

That said, Meyer also believes the road to the national title still runs through Athens and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia, who is currently riding a 26-game winning streak and has won the last two national titles, currently ranks just behind the Buckeyes at No. 2.

"I think Georgia is right there. They’re the man until you beat the man," Meyer said. "Behind that, now, it’s tough. I see a Florida State team, I see a Washington team. I see, in my opinion, Oregon is, on tape I compare them to the Wolverines. They’re one of the best teams on videotape that I’ve seen, offensively and defensively."

One way or the other, the Buckeyes will get their chance to prove Meyer wrong on the field, with Ohio State and Michigan set to face off later this month.

Last season, it was the Wolverines that got the better of Ohio State on the field, winning 45-23 in Columbus.

Ryan Day will look to return the favor in Ann Arbor in a few weeks.
