LOOK: Ex Buckeye WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba Debuts New Seattle Seahawks Threads

The former Ohio State pass catcher was selected by the Seahawks with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba debuted his new Seattle Seahawks uniform on Twitter Monday.

The Rockwall, Texas-native will keep his college number, but exchange the scarlet and gray of the Buckeyes for the neon green and blue colors of the Seahawks this coming season.

Smith-Njigba was selected by Seattle with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and was the third Buckeye off of the board following quarterback C.J. Stroud and offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr.

As a junior last season, Smith-Njigba recorded only five receptions and 43 yards as he dealt with a hamstring injury. Last year was the first time in his Ohio State career that Smith-Njigba did not score a touchdown or play at least five games.

The Seahawks elected to still take Smith-Njigba as their opening-round choice partially based on his tremendous 2021 season, in which he hauled in 80 receptions for 1,259 yards and six touchdowns.

Smith-Njigba also set three Ohio State program records during the 2021 Rose Bowl, scoring three touchdowns and tallying 367 yards on 15 catches.

The former Buckeye will join seasoned wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett when the Seahawks open their season in Los Angeles against the Rams on Sunday, September 10.

Smith-Njigba will also have to adjust from Stroud, the man with which he played the past three years, to the touch and passing style of quarterback Geno Smith.

JSN certainly looks the part of an NFL wide receiver, but will he be able to hold his ground when the winds of change start blowing in the Emerald City?
