Ohio State Men's Hockey Team Unveils New Uniform for 'Faceoff on the Lake'
The Ohio State Buckeyes men's hockey team will debut a new set of digs on Saturday when they take on the Michigan Wolverines at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland for the 2023 Faceoff on the Lake.
The Buckeyes, considered the home team for this contest, will wear white jerseys with scarlet numbers on the front, names on the back, and several stripe accents.
The font closely resembles cursive handwriting, with smooth curves instead of the usual sharp, block style usually worn by Ohio State. On each of the sleeves is a set of three scarlet stripes, broken up by the white of the sweater.
The "2023 Faceoff on the Lake" logo is featured on the front, left shoulder of the jersey.
Accompanying these jerseys are scarlet pants, white socks with the same stripe design as the arms around the middle, and the iconic silver Ohio State helmets with buckeye leaf stickers.
Modeling the uniforms in the photos from the Ohio State men's hockey Twitter page (@OhioStateMHKY) is sophomore goaltender Jakub Dobeš. The Ostrava, Czech Republic native will wear specially ordered pads for the game in Cleveland, with buckeye leaves formatted in a scarlet and white checkerboard design.

The Buckeyes wore scarlet uniforms the last time they played outdoors, once again in Cleveland but back in 2012 at Progressive Field. Michigan, sporting their maize home uniforms, defeated Ohio State 4-1 in that game.
The Buckeyes and Wolverines last played on Thursday night at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus. Ohio State ended regulation and overtime tied 3-3 but held on to win an extra conference point in the shootout.
Saturday's contest will be the last time Ohio State and Michigan meet this season outside of a potential matchup in the 2023 Big Ten Tournament.
