LOOK: Ohio State Commit Pokes Fun At High School Teammate, Michigan Pledge
Inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, there's a clock that counts down the days until "The Game." For two class of 2024 recruits, their first Ohio State-Michigan game can't come soon enough.
Under On3's Hayes Fawcett's Instagram post announcing four-star offensive lineman Deontae Armstrong's commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes Monday, high school teammate and Michigan offensive lineman commit Ben Roebuck commented he "can't wait to beat" Ohio State.
Armstrong was quick to strike down his fellow St. Edward High School tackle.
"What school did you grow up watching?" Armstrong replied. "Therapy wouldn't be too bad."
The Wolverines have garnered recent success, winning each of the last two renditions of "The Game," but Armstrong was referencing the Buckeyes owning the rivalry this century, winning 16 of the 21 contests since 2000.
Ohio State vacated its 2010 victory as punishment for the "Tattoogate" scandal and the 2020 game was canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Wolverines' program.
Next year has become a must-win situation for head coach Ryan Day the Buckeyes, as they have not lost three in a row since 1995-97.
Armstrong and his brother, interior offensive lineman Devontae Armstrong, both announced their commitments to Ohio State together on Monday.
Offensive line coach Justin Frye is putting together a solid class of 2024, as the twins mark the third and fourth commits of the cycle, joining interior offensive linemen four-star Ian Moore and three-star Marc Nave.
Moore committed on Oct. 20, 2022, and Nave announced his commitment March 8.
