Buckeyes Legend Ezekiel Elliott Signs With Patriots
Following his release from the Dallas Cowboys, former Ohio State Buckeyes star Ezekiel Elliott had few options in terms of where to go next.
In large part, those feelings were based on the state of the NFL running back market, which has become an increasingly difficult place this offseason.
Among the teams being connected with Elliott over that time, were the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles, among others.
However, there was no telling which, if any of those teams were a realistic possibility.
But now, according to reports that situation has now resolved itself, with Elliott finding a new NFL home with the New England Patriots.
The deal, which is worth $6 million will keep Elliott in Foxboro for one year.
In his seven years in Dallas after being selected in the first round, Elliott rushed for over 1,000 yards in three of those seasons. While, in two of those seasons, finishing just shy at 983 yards (2017) and 979 Yards (2020).
And in both of those seasons, Elliott did not play a full season, missing six games in 2017 and one game in 2020.
Elliott was also an absolute star with the Buckeyes, rushing for 592 times for 3,961 yards and 43 touchdowns in just three seasons.
Now, he hopes to rekindle that success in Foxboro, presumably with his old No. 15 jersey number from his days in Columbus.
