Buckeyes WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba Schedules Cowboys & Ravens Pre-Draft Visits

Ex-Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba seems to be a name on the rise prior to the NFL Draft.
In this story:

Ex-Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is busy with his pre-NFL Draft process.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, after visiting with the Atlanta Falcons, who own the No. 8 overall pick, he is already set to visit with other teams.

"[Ohio State] WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a consensus first-rounder, has already had a top-30 visit with the Falcons, source said," Rapoport wrote. "Among the many he's scheduled to visit are the Ravens, Texans, Bills, and Cowboys."

The former Buckeyes pass catcher was shaping up to be potentially a top-five pick just last year.

He posted an incredible sophomore season which ended with him posting a Rose Bowl-recording-breaking performance, totaling 347 yards and three touchdowns on 15 receptions en route to a 48-45 win over Utah.

But an injury sidelined him this past fall, limiting Smith-Njigba to just four games, making his projection within the first round difficult.

As for where he stands now in the first round is hard to tell; judging by his visits, he could go as early as eight, which would pair him with ex-Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder and wide receiver Drake London on the Falcons, who did acquire another ex-Buckeye in cornerback Jeff Okudah from the Detroit Lions in a recent trade.

But there has also been conversation about seeing Smith-Njigba team back up with quarterback Justin Fields on the Chicago Bears, who will pick ninth.

For whatever quarterback Smith-Njigba lands with, he likely projects as a slot receiver who can specialize in the short-to-intermediate passing game.
