Ohio State's Ryan Day Drops in Big Ten Coach Rankings

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day is still one of the top football coaches in the conference according to CBS Sports. However, he is no longer at the top.
In this story:

CBS Sports has Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day ranked second on their list of the top head football coaches in the Big Ten Conference.

Day held the No. 1 spot last year but lost it to Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh after back-to-back losses to the Wolverines over the past two years.

"The best indicator of Ryan Day's success is that the Buckeyes went 11-2 last year, reached the College Football Playoff, and it hurt his standing among our voters," said Tom Fornelli, author of the list.

Fornelli seems to disagree with the results however, saying Day did a lot of things last season for which Buckeyes fans didn't give him enough credit.

"Seriously, the Buckeyes lost to Michigan and Georgia (two playoff teams!), and people are like 'I don't know, I think he lists his fastball, you guys,'" Fornelli said. "Of course, that comes with the territory when you're the Ohio State coach and you've lost two straight to Michigan."

Day is slotted as the No. 8-overall head coach in college football overall, though this list does not show which non-conference managers are ahead of him.

If Day is to regain his top spot in the Big Ten (in the eyes of both CBS Sports and Ohio State fans), defeating Michigan on their home field this November would be a mighty fine place to start.
