Needing a win to get its season back on track, Oklahoma State delivered in a big way.

OSU beat Kansas State on Friday night 29-21 to move both teams to 3-2 this season. Although OSU built a lead early, KSU still had a chance to tie it late.

With a fourth-and-one for OSU with just over five minutes to go, Josiah Johnson went under center and pushed forward. Johnson was short of the line to gain, and KSU had an opportunity to tie the game starting on its own 40.

The Wildcats quickly made their way into Cowboys territory before Will Howard made a costly mistake. On third down from the 35-yard line, Howard threw his third interception as Nick Martin made the play for the Cowboys’ defense.

The Wildcats had one more chance after that, but they failed to cross midfield. In the blackout inside Boone Pickens Stadium, Ollie Gordon made plays all game to help spark the OSU offense.

Gordon finished with 136 yards on 21 carries. He also gave the Cowboys one of their two touchdowns, but the other came courtesy of the defense.

With under a minute left in the first half, Cameron Epps picked off Will Howard’s pass and returned it for a touchdown. It was Epps’ second interception and gave the Cowboys a 20-7 halftime lead.

The Cowboys also got off to a perfect start. After forcing a stop on the Wildcats' first possession, the Cowboys drove downfield into the end zone.

That marked the first time OSU scored on its first possession this season.

Under Mike Gundy, the Cowboys have still never started 2-3. It took an impressive effort in all facets, but the Cowboys pulled off their season’s signature victory.

OSU still has a long road to go this season, but this win could be what turns the season around.
