LIVE UPDATES: Ole Miss Hosts Arkansas State in Midweek Action

The Rebels and Red Wolves are scheduled to face off on Tuesday afternoon.

OXFORD, Miss. -- After sweeping its first weekend series of the season, the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels remain in Oxford for a midweek test against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Tuesday.

The Rebels demolished the visiting Delaware Blue Hens over the weekend, picking up two run-rule wins over the course of three days. The final day of play on Sunday was marked by a whopping seven RBIs from shortstop Jacob Gonzalez as the Rebels blew through their first series of the 2023 season.

Now, Ole Miss shifts its focus to a familiar midweek foe in Arkansas State who is fresh off a series sweep of its own over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Rebels and Red Wolves are set to do battle on Tuesday afternoon, and you can follow along for live updates below.

PREGAME

Mike Bianco has released his starting lineup for the Rebels on Tuesday, and you can find that below.

FIRST INNING

JT Quinn gives up a leadoff double to start the game. 

A groundout and walk put runners at the corners with one out. 

A wild pitch from Quinn gives Arkansas State its first run of the day. ASU 1, UM 0

Another walk from Quinn puts runners at first and second, and Bianco is out to chat. 

A strikeout and pop out end the frame.

MID 1: Arkansas State 1, Ole Miss 0 

Ethan Groff with a leadoff double for the Rebels puts a runner in scoring position. 

Gonzalez grounds out to advance Groff to third. 

An E5 with Kemp Alderman at the plate gives the Rebels their first run of the game. UM 1, ASU 1

An infield single from Lege puts runners at the corners. 

A double steal brings Alderman home and takes Lege off the base paths, giving Ole Miss the lead and ending the inning.

END 1: Ole Miss 2, Arkansas State 1 

SECOND INNING

A quick 1-2-3 inning from Quinn keeps the score where it is.

MID 2: Ole Miss 2, Arkansas State 1 

McCants works a leadoff walk. 

Will Furniss hit a missile into the student section, and Ole Miss extends its lead. UM 4, ASU 1 

Tywone Malone just hit the batter's eye, and Ole Miss now leads 5-1. 

Ethan Groff draws a one-out walk after a Chatagnier pop out. 

Gonzalez and Alderman strike out to end the frame.

END 2: Ole Miss 5, Arkansas State 1 

THIRD INNING

Quinn works another 1-2-3 inning in the third.

MID 3: Ole Miss 5, Arkansas State 1 

A Calvin Harris single and McCants walk puts runners at first and second with one out. 

A strikeout and groundout end the Rebel threat.

END 3: Ole Miss 5, Arkansas State 1

FOURTH INNING

Arkansas State puts up a two-out single followed by a double that puts runners at second and third. 

A strikeout from Quinn ends the inning.

MID 4: Ole Miss 5, Arkansas State 1

Peyton Chatagnier hits a leadoff double to start the bottom half. 

A double from Groff brings home Chatagnier. UM 6, ASU 1 

Gonzalez is hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with no outs.

A double from Kemp Alderman scores both runners. UM 8, ASU 1 

Nothing else for the Rebels in the frame.

END 4: Ole Miss 8, Arkansas State 1 

FIFTH INNING

JT Quinn's day is done here in the fifth after two walks. Mitch Murrell enters the game with one out and two on. 

Arkansas State pushes a run across with a one-out single. UM 8, ASU 2 

A two-out single gives the Red Wolves another run, cutting the Rebel lead to five. UM 8, ASU 3 

Murrell gets a strikeout to end the frame.

MID 5: Ole Miss 8, Arkansas State 3

Peyton Chatagnier reached on a single, but he is caught trying to steal second. 

A Jacob Gonzalez double scores Groff from first who reached on a HBP. UM 9, ASU 3

Kemp Alderman hits a laser to the visiting bullpen, and Ole Miss has broken this one open. UM 11, ASU 3 

Calvin Harris flies out to end the frame.

END 5: Ole Miss 11, Arkansas State 3

SIXTH INNING

Brayden Jones enters the game on the hill for Ole Miss. 

Nothing going for the Red Wolves in the sixth.

MID 6: Ole Miss 11, Arkansas State 3 

The Rebels are retired in order.

SEVENTH INNING

Cole Ketchum is now on the hill for the Rebels. 

Ketchum retires the Red Wolves in order.

The Rebels go 1-2-3 in the bottom half.

EIGHTH INNING

Cole Tolbert is now on the mound for Ole Miss, and he has walked and hit the first two batters. 

Another walk loads the bases with no outs. Bianco goes to the bullpen, and Sam Tookoian is now into the game. 

Tookoian works out of the jam unscathed.

MID 8: Ole Miss 11, Arkansas State 3 

The Rebels go down 1-2-3 in the eighth.

The Red Wolves go down in order.
