Mike Bianco Provides Injury Update on Ole Miss Starting Pitcher JT Quinn
Ole Miss Rebels head coach Mike Bianco announced a change to his weekend pitching rotation earlier this week, shifting JT Quinn from his Friday role to Saturday in favor of Gunnar Dennis in the series opener against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Bianco noted after his team's win over Little Rock on Tuesday night that Dennis has earned this opportunity for the promotion, but he also revealed some injury details regarding Quinn that gave him extra motivation to make the move.
"He's been dealing with two blisters really since the beginning of the season," Bianco said. "He's got one on his index finger and one on his ring finger from different pitches. He's in a better shape now with that, I think. I wasn't going to say that, but that might have been the thing to push me over the edge. Why not give him one more day, and maybe the fingers will be in a little bit better shape?"

Quinn was placed in the Friday night role to begin this season after Xavier Rivas went down with a season-ending UCL injury prior to the start of the campaign. He has thrown 6.2 innings over the course of two appearances, walking eight men and striking out 12 while allowing six earned runs.
Dennis put together another solid performance last Saturday against the High Point Panthers, putting together a a six-hit, two-run outing alongside eight strikeouts and just two walks.
The Rebels have one more game to play before hosting Iowa this weekend, and it comes in the form of the Missouri State Bears on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on SEC Network+.
