The Ole Miss Rebels fell below the .500 mark for the first time in 2024 with a 4-2 loss to the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Wednesday night, moving their losing streak to three games.

Arkansas State struck with a run in the first and second innings and two runs in the fourth to open up a 4-0 lead before the Rebels got on the board. Ole Miss’ first run of the day came on a Jackson Ross RBI single in the bottom of the fifth that scored Treyson Hughes from third.

Judd Utermark provided some life for the Rebel bats in the bottom of the eighth inning, hitting a solo home run to left-center field, but it did not provide enough of a spark to change the game's outcome.

In total, the Rebels stranded seven men on the basepaths, and they were out-hit by ASU 10-5 in the loss.

Righty Mason Morris opened the game on the mound for Ole Miss, throwing three innings of four-hit, two-run ball with both of the runs being earned. He was relieved on the hill by Wes Mendes who lasted two innings, allowing three hits and surrendering two runs.

Brayden Jones and Mason Nichols closed out the game for the Rebels in relief, neither of whom allowed a run in their combined four innings of work.
