Rebels Baseball Adds Another Impact Transfer in FAU Infielder Jackson Ross
OXFORD, Miss. -- It has been a big day for Mike Bianco and the boys in the transfer portal.
The Ole Miss Rebels secured two baseball pieces out of the portal on Monday, beginning with Arizona State shortstop Luke Hill, and it continued with the addition of Florida Atlantic third baseman Jackson Ross on the afternoon.
Ross is a 6-2, 200-pound senior out of Lakeland, Fla., and in his career with the Owls, he has made a huge impact at the plate. In the 2023 season alone, Ross hit .345 at the dish with a .605 slugging percentage, swatting 14 home runs in the process, doubling his total from the 2022 season.
Over those two seasons, the infielder drew a combined 65 walks and accounted for 90 RBI. Defensively at the hot corner, he posted a .952 fielding percentage, committing 12 errors over the course of two seasons.
With Hill and Ross now on the Rebels' roster, Mike Bianco has begun to fill some holes that were left at the end of a disappointing 2023 campaign. Hill's addition is huge in its own right thanks to the hit Ole Miss suffered at shortstop with the selection of Jacob Gonzalez and some prep commits in the MLB Draft this offseason.
