BREAKING: Ole Miss OF Kemp Alderman Selected By Miami Marlins in 2023 MLB Draft

The Rebels' power hitter was taken in the second round of the MLB Draft on Sunday night.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Former Ole Miss Rebels outfielder and power hitter Kemp Alderman was selected in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft on Sunday night, being chosen by the Miami Marlins with pick No. 47.

Alderman put on a show at the 2023 MLB Draft Combine, putting up the highest exit velocity of any participant at the plate, registering a blistering 111.4 MPH. He also came in second in average exit velocity at the event with a mark of 100.5 MPH.

Alderman was a part of the Rebels' national championship run in 2022, but he really burst onto the scene in 2023 as far as his batting average is concerned. Putting up a .286 mark in that category in 2022, he pushed that number to .376 this season, good for best on the Ole Miss roster.

Over the course of his three-year college career, Alderman hit 31 home runs, including 19 this season and 11 in the national title year. He was also responsible for 107 RBI at the plate, 61 of which came in 2023.

His power was on scene plentifully during his time in Oxford, but now, he will try and work those talents to the majors and a productive career in Miami.
