Rebels Roll in Midweek Bout vs. Arkansas State, Remain Undefeated

Ole Miss fell behind early on Tuesday, but it met little resistance after the first inning.
In this story:

OXFORD, Miss. — Tuesday's outing started shakily for freshman righty JT Quinn, but he eventually settled in and helped lead the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels to an 11-3 midweek win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

The Rebels secured the win behind seven arms on the mound and back-to-back home runs from Will Furniss and Tywone Malone in the second inning that helped stretch its lead.

Quinn worked 4.1 innings of three-run ball, giving up one run in the top of the first inning to put Ole Miss behind for the first time this season. The Rebels offense answered, however, by taking a 2-1 lead in the bottom half, a lead that it never relinquished.

The Rebels starter was relieved by Mitch Murrell in the top of the fifth, and two runs in that frame were credited to Quinn after his departure. Following Murrell, head coach Mike Bianco called on multiple arms to get the game to its conclusion, finishing the night with Mason Nichols on the hill.

Kemp Alderman led the Rebels in RBIs with five, and he accounted for a two-run home run in the fifth inning to help reach that mark. He also drove home runs thanks to an error in the first inning and a double in the fourth.

With the win, the Rebels improve to 4-0 on the season, and they will play host to the nationally-ranked Maryland Terrapins this weekend in Oxford. First pitch on Friday afternoon is set for 4 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
