Ole Miss Caps Off 2024 Season With Brutal Home Loss to Texas A&M
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team capped off its 2023-2024 season in rather poor fashion on Saturday afternoon, losing 86-60 to the Texas A&M Aggies in the Sandy and John Black Pavilion. There were not a lot of positives for the Rebels in their season finale, as they struggled to rebound on both ends of the court and did not do a good job of moving the ball around.
Ole Miss finished the regular season riding a two-game losing streak, and will end its first year under Chris Beard with a 20-11 overall record (7-11 vs. SEC).
Four-and-a-half minutes passed before Matthew Murrell finally sunk a much-needed three-pointer to put the Rebels on the board in his final home game at Ole Miss. The Rebels entered the locker room at halftime trailing Texas A&M 42-29 and were led in scoring by senior Jaemyn Brakefield with 10 points.

Texas A&M got out to a 22-point lead in the second half before Ole Miss started subbing in seniors to get some final minutes on Craddock Court. The Rebels were outrebounded by A&M 50-21, but their bench outscored the Aggies' reserves 16-13.
Ole Miss was led in scoring by Jaylen Murray with 21 points, and he was joined in double digits by Murrell (11) and Brakefield (10). As a team, Ole Miss shot 39 percent from the field and 29 from three compared to percentages of 50 and 50 from the Aggies, respectively.
