Ole Miss guard James White is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal after announcing his decision last Sunday.

OXFORD, Miss., -- Ole Miss Rebels guard James White officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday after announcing his decision via Twitter last Sunday.

White only averaged 2.2 PPG in 17 games as a freshman but saw increased playing time down the stretch this season and scored a career-high 14 points against the Missouri Tigers on March 4.

In his sophomore season, the Conyers, Ga., native averaged 4 PPG, two rebounds, and one assist in 29 games.

Here is White's announcement from Sunday:

"First, I want to thank God for putting me in the position I'm in, also I want to thank the coaches and my teammates at Ole Miss for the endless support but due to the new situation and changes and long talks with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal."

"I look forward to exploring all options and I will still be considering Ole Miss, I'm excited to see what my future has in store for me and what the rest of my college basketball career awaits."

"Lastly I want to thank Rebel Nation and the Oxford community for welcoming me with open arms and the continuous support throughout the way."

White is the third Rebel to enter the portal since Ole Miss annoucned that Chris Beard would be taking over as the coach of men's basketball, joining freshman guard Amaree Abram and junior forward Jaemyn Brakefield.

Beard stated in his introductory press conference on Tuesday that he aims to keep as many Rebels as possible, and while all three could return, the final decision will be his to make.
