Ole Miss Lands St. Peter's Transfer G Jaylen Murray
Chris Beard's Ole Miss Rebels recruiting train just keeps chugging along.
The Rebels landed their second transfer portal commitment of the week on Wednesday, as the team added to its backcourt once again with a pledge from St. Peter's Peacocks transfer guard Jaylen Murray, per reports from On3.
Murray played an important role for the 15th-seeded Peacocks during their incredible Elite Eight run in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, but he became an even bigger part of the offense this past season. St. Peter's wasn't able to recapture that March Madness magic, but Murray boosted his scoring averages up from 5.8 points to 12.5 points per game. This included a career-high 23 points in the 70-52 win over Fairfield on March 7.
Murray is now the sixth transfer commit for the Rebels this offseason. Ole Miss has already landed the likes of Auburn's Allen Flanigan, Oklahoma State's Moussa Cisse, Georgetown's Brandon Murray, Arizona State's Austin Nunez and Western Kentucky's Jamarion Sharp.
Murray joins a backcourt that already features the likes of Nunez, Brandon Murray and Flanigan along with the return of Matthew Murrell, who led the team in scoring last season (14.4).
Led by Beard's relentless recruiting pursuit, the Rebels have flipped the program's trajectory in one offseason. Adding a guy like Murray who has March Madness experience and proven scoring ability only heightens the expectations even more.
