Ole Miss Basketball Remains Undefeated Following Home Victory Over Troy
OXFORD, Miss. -- The No. 25 Ole Miss Rebels picked up their 11th win the 2023-24 season on Tuesday night after taking down the Troy Trojans 74-53 in The Sandy and John Black Pavilion in dominating fashion. It has not always been pretty, but the Rebels remain undefeated in Chris Beard's inaugural season with the program.
The Rebels struggled to get shots to fall early versus Troy, but they started to pull away in the final minutes of the first half thanks to a decisive 15-3 scoring run in favor of Beard's squad.
Ole Miss entered the locker room at halftime with a 31-22 lead over the Trojans, led in scoring by guards Jaylen Murray and Matthew Murrell with eight points apiece. Murrell was stingy versus the Trojans, as he racked up a career-high 10 steals - good enough for a SJB Pavilion record.
The Rebels kept the pressure on in the second half, holding a 54-33 lead over Troy with 11 minutes remaining in the contest. Ole Miss' electric second half of offense was spearheaded by Murrell, who led the Rebels in scoring with 18 points.
