Ole Miss Loses on the Road to Missouri 82-77 in Final Regular Season Matchup
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Ole Miss Rebels lost a back-and-forth battle on the road to the Missouri Tigers 82-77 on Saturday in their regular season finale. Ole Miss has officially finished the 2022-23 regular season with an 11-20 record, good enough for a second-to-last place finish in the SEC.
Despite being down 41-36 going into the locker room at halftime, the Rebels played the second half with a chip on their shoulder and traded blows with the Tigers until time expired. However, the Ole Miss offense hit a wall with a little more than three minutes left in the contest, giving Mizzou a chance to pull away in the final minute.
Ole Miss was led in scoring by junior forward Jaemyn Brakefield with 21 points, shooting eight for 11 from the field while guards James White and Matthew Murrell finished second on the team in scoring with 14 points.
In their final regular season outing, the Rebels shot 51.0 percent from the field and 22.7 percent from behind the three-point line. In comparison, the Tigers shot 55.2 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc.
With the 2022-23 regular season wrapped up, the SEC Tournament is set to be held Wednesday, March 8 through Sunday, March 12 in Nashville.
