Why was former Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Marlon Humphrey wearing Ole Miss Rebels gear?

OXFORD, Miss. -- Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey was spotted wearing some questionable gear ahead his team's matchup in the 2024 AFC Championship Game. After practice last week, the former Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback was immediately questioned by the media when he was spotted wearing an Ole Miss Rebels long-sleeve zip-up.

It was first speculated that Humphrey had lost a bet with a teammate - possibly former Ole Miss linebacker Tavius Robinson - but he quickly cleared the air on his attire.

"This is for my guy Lane Kiffin,” Humphrey told reporters. “I wanted him to be the Bama coach. I told him he should come to Bama. But then like an hour later, they already hired the new coach. Lane is my guy, but I still bleed crimson.”

Lane Kiffin worked as Alabama's offensive coordinator from 2014 through 2016, the same three seasons that Humphrey suited up for the Tide. They worked on opposite sides of the ball in T-Town, but the two developed a relationship that remains strong to this day. Humphrey can be seen wearing the Ole Miss sweater here.

Humphrey made his wish for Kiffin known, but the Tide obviously settled on Kalen DeBoer to take over for Nick Saban. DeBoer was hired after he brought the Washington Huskies to college football's biggest stage in just two years.
