OXFORD, Miss. -- This offseason has brought dramatic change to the world of college football, as the NCAA Transfer Portal is the busiest it has ever been, and the greatest coach of all time announced his retirement.
With Nick Saban officially out of the picture, there is a power vacuum in college football's hierarchy, and the Ole Miss Rebels have placed themselves in a position to be successful in this new age. The Rebels have supercharged an already impressive roster with the No. 3 transfer portal class in the nation, and the national media is starting to take notice.
On3's J.D. PicKell recently released his Top 12 programs in CFB following the madness in the portal and Saban's retirement, and Ole Miss landed at No. 5.

Rebel Rewind: QB Brent Schaeffer Looks to Revive Ole Miss in 2006
Ole Miss is one of five programs from the Southeastern Conference to make the Top 12, and is ranked higher than Michigan following the Wolverine's recent national title. PicKell recently spoke highly of the Rebels during his show "The Hard Count," stating that the "sky's the limit" for Ole Miss in 2024.
Looking at Ole Miss' roster on paper entering the 2024 season, it is hard to not include the Rebels in national championship conversations, as Lane Kiffin is preparing his team to win now.
