'Sky's The Limit!’ CFB Analyst J.D. PicKell Has High Hopes For Ole Miss in 2024

The Ole Miss Rebels are picking up a lot of buzz from the national media going into the 2024 season.
In this story:

OXFORD, Miss. -- Lane Kiffin is well aware that 2024 could be the biggest year in program history for the Ole Miss Rebels, as he and his staff have recruited the No. 3 transfer portal class in the country this offseason in hopes of brining a national championship trophy to Oxford.

The national media is already calling the Rebels a "legit threat" to the 2024 college football playoff now that the bracket has been increased to 12 teams. Ole Miss finished the 2023 season ranked in the Top 10, and now that it has added some of the best talent available in the portal this offseason, a national title does not feel too far out of the picture.

On3 analyst J.D. PicKell also has high hopes for the Rebels in 2024 following Kiffin's shopping spree in the portal and is confident this is the year Kiffin goes for it all.

"The sky's the limit for Ole Miss," PicKell said via The Hard Count on Tuesday. "Lane Kiffin is being active in the portal because that's who he is, but he's being extra active in the portal right now because I think he smells blood in the water. That shark emoji is a lot of fun, that's what Ole Miss does, it's kind of a brand for them. It could also be Ole Miss sensing that this is the year."

It is not uncommon for Kiffin to get big portal hauls, but this class is different than previous ones. Kiffin locked up the biggest commitment of his tenure at Ole Miss when former Texas A&M Aggies defensive lineman Walter Nolen pledged to the Rebels in December, and he has continued to bring in elite talent.
