ESPN Computer Predicts Score for Ole Miss vs. Alabama
The Ole Miss Rebels and Alabama Crimson Tide open up conference play in Week 4 at Bryant-Denny Stadium this Saturday, playing sequel to last season's thriller in Oxford, Mississippi.
ESPN prognosticator Bill Connolly released his projections for the slated week of college football this week, and his SP+ model has predicted that Ole Miss will fall 32-35 against Alabama this Saturday.
The predicted score and spread are not far off from Alabama’s 30-24 victory over Ole Miss last year in Oxford. Ole Miss has moved up to No. 15 in the updated AP Poll, and Alabama sits at No. 13, falling outside of the top 10 for the first time in eight years.
The line for the game opened largely in favor of the Crimson Tide, but as of this writing, it has moved to -7.5 in favor of Alabama, according to the SI SportsBook.
As of recently, Nick Saban’s Tide are starting to look mortal again. They lost a game at Bryant-Denny Stadium to the Texas Longhorns, marking their first home loss since 2019. In Week 3, the Tide found themselves having scored just three points at halftime against an unranked Southern Florida Bulls team.
In attempt to remedy these issues, Saban re-named Jalen Milroe as his starting quarterback after he did not see the field in Week 3.
There is an evident struggle in Tuscaloosa, something Nick Saban and his squad are not accustomed to in recent years after being crowned as the “powerhouse” of college football. This could be an opportunity for Lane Kiffin to edge his former coaching associate and take advantage of a vulnerable Crimson Tide team in the opening conference game of the season.
The Rebels and Crimson Tide are scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will be televised on CBS.
