Expert Predicts Ole Miss Rebels to Land Top Transfer Portal Target Walter Nolen

The Ole Miss Rebels could soon have yet another massive transfer portal piece added to their roster.
In this story:

Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels have been on a tear in the transfer portal since it officially opened earlier this month, and one expert in the industry has predicted that they are not finished just yet.

Pete Nakos of On3 logged a prediction on Sunday that the Rebels would land Texas A&M Aggies defensive lineman transfer Walter Nolen out of the portal. Nolen recently visited the Rebels, and he was rated as the No. 1 overall player in the 2022 cycle coming out of high school. In two seasons with the Aggies, Nolan recorded 66 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup.

The stout defensive lineman bounced around at times during his high school career, suiting up for Olive Branch (Miss.) High School during his sophomore season before transferring to IMG Academy. Following his time at IMG, he relocated to St. Benedict at Auburndale High School in Cordova, Tenn., and his hometown is listed as Powell, Tenn.

Securing Nolen would be the biggest land for Kiffin and company in this transfer portal cycle, even with the array of talent that has already been brought to Oxford, especially on defense. The Rebels have recently landed names from SEC rivals like Princely Umanmielen (Florida), Chris "Pooh" Paul (Arkansas), Tyler Baron (Tennessee) and Tamarion McDonald (Tennessee).

Add these transfers in with the talent from the 2023 roster that will be returning next season, and Ole Miss could have a legitimate shot at vying for a spot in the soon-to-be-expanded College Football Playoff.

The Rebels will conclude their season in a New Year's Six bowl game this month when they face the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is set for 11 a.m. CT on Dec. 30, and the game will be televised on ESPN.
