Former Ole Miss Rebel Dontario Drummond Waived by Dallas Cowboys
OXFORD, Miss. -- NFL rosters have begun trimming down their rosters to 53 players now that the preseason is officially over, and unfortunately, a former Ole Miss Rebel is among the roster cuts.
The Dallas Cowboys waived receiver Dontario Drummond on Tuesday after he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. Drummond is now on the "waiver wire" and his contract can be claimed by another team. Drummond spent the entire 2022 season on Dallas' practice squad.
Drummond will likely find himself on another roster or practice squad soon, as the wideout had a productive preseason with the Cowboys recording five receptions for 75 yards in three games. The former Rebel finished the preseason as the third-best receiving option for Dallas and he did not drop a single pass thrown his way.
In his final preseason game of 2023, Drummond hauled in three receptions for 33 yards and came up clutch on a 16-yard reception for a first down.

A former three-star prospect coming out of high school, Drummond started his college career playing in the JUCO ranks at East Mississippi Community College before he joined Ole Miss ahead of the 2019 season.
In three seasons with the Rebels, Drummond recorded 114 receptions for 1,633 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns in 34 career games. His best season came in 2021 when the 6-foot-1, 220-pound wideout hauled in 76 catches for 1,028 yards and eight touchdowns.
During the 2021 Outback Bowl, Drummond led all Rebel receivers with a career-high 110 receiving yards on six receptions and caught the game-winning score.
