Ex-Rebel Laremy Tunsil: Top 5 NFL OL?

How does former Ole Miss Rebel Laremy Tunsil stack up to the other players at his position entering the 2023 NFL season?

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ever since the Houston Texans traded for former Ole Miss Rebel Laremy Tunsil in 2019, the lineman has made three pro bowl appearances in four seasons earning him a three-year contract extension worth $75 million in March, making him the highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL.

ESPN recently ranked the top 10 offensive tackles in the NFL entering the 2023 season, and the former Rebel was voted as the No. 2 player at his position by NFL executives, coaches, and scouts.

"Tunsil became the highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL this offseason, with a three-year, $75 million deal worth $60 million guaranteed to remain with Houston," ESPN writes. "He allowed six sacks and had 10 penalties, but his 92% pass block win rate was impressive, and numbers don't tell the story of his physical dominance. Tunsil has the natural feet, range and physicality that keep him high on the list."

"He could be No. 1 and you'd feel good about it -- youth, upside player, violent, great feet," an NFC exec said.

While at Ole Miss, the Lake City, Fla., native was awarded the Kent Hull Trophy in 2014 as a sophomore, crowning him the No. 1 collegiate offensive lineman in Mississippi that year. In 2015, Tunsil was voted First-Team All-SEC by ESPN and Athlon Sports. The Ole Miss offense averaged 201.7 yards and one sack per game Tunsil's junior year.
