Former Rebels Receiver Jonathan Mingo Draws Rave Reviews From NFL Network
Jonathan Mingo is no longer the veteran in the Ole Miss Rebels receiving room, but he is hoping his collegiate experience will translate to a fruitful career in the NFL.
So far, analysts and executives alike are high on his chances to do just that.
On NFL Network's Good Morning Football this week, Mingo's name came up in a potentially-overlooked draft prospect for this season. Take a look at what the show staff had to say about the Mississippi product.
"Who's someone that no one is talking about that might go second round or late-first?" Peter Schrager said. "The name that keeps coming up is Jonathan Mingo, the wide receiver out of Ole Miss.
"You see that Ole Miss uniform, you think A.J. Brown, Elijah Moore, D.K. Metcalf. Raw, can still be polished, but is an absolute physical beast."
That is an apt description for the receiver who broke records in his time at Ole Miss. In four years at Ole Miss, Mingo hauled in 112 receptions, 1,758 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns.
The Brandon, Miss., native put his name in the record books when he set the single-game Ole Miss record for receiving yards last season versus the Vanderbilt Commodores with 247 receiving yards on nine catches with two touchdowns.
While at the Combine, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound receiver posted an impressive 4.46 40-yard dash, 39.5-inch vertical jump, and 22 bench press reps. For comparison, former Ole Miss receiver AJ Brown ran a 4.49 40-yard dash in 2019 and is currently one of the best receivers in the NFL.
According to Mingo's NFL profile, the former Rebel is ranked as the eighth most athletic receiver in this year's draft class with an 84 Athleticism Score.
