2024 3-Star OT John Wayne Oliver Commits To Ole Miss
Coming off a three-commitment weekend, the mounted momentum continues on the recruiting trail for the Ole Miss Rebels.
Class of 2024 three-star offensive tackle John Wayne Oliver announced his commitment to Ole Miss on Twitter Tuesday. Oliver chose the Rebels over the Auburn Tigers and the TCU Horned Frogs.
“I’ve wanted to play in the SEC my whole life,” Oliver told On3. “I love the O-line coach (John) Garrison, head coach Lane Kiffin, and it’s a great environment in a great town. I’ve also already built great relationships with the o-linemen there.”
Oliver said he and Garrison would talk "every other day" for approximately 30 minutes.
“I realized that we had a lot in common and connected really well," Oliver told On3. "My sister also goes to Mississippi State so I’ll be close to her and my family back here so that played a role."
Oliver received an offer from Ole Miss March 15 and took an official visit to Oxford June 9.
The Christ Presbyterian Academy product is the No. 39 offensive tackle and the No. 13 player in Tennessee in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports.
Oliver told On3 didn't want to commit until July, but wanted to get "the decision out of the way" when he knew it was Ole Miss "takes so much pressure off of me."
“The last few weeks it’s been hard for me to go to sleep because I’ve been thinking about it nonstop," Oliver said. "Now I’m happy it’s over, I’m at peace with my decision and can just stay focused on my senior season.”
